Make your child’s back to school experience smooth and stress-free with this must-have checklist.
To start, every child should have a complete change of clothes tucked inside their backpack, ideally placed in a labeled ziplock bag. Whether it's from a messy lunch or a potty accident, having a clean outfit on hand helps keep the day running smoothly. If your child brings their own meals, opt for healthy, easy to eat snacks and lunches packed in leak proof, child friendly containers. A reusable water bottle is a great addition to keep them hydrated throughout the day.
For younger children, packing a small comfort item like a soft toy, blanket, or even a family photo can offer emotional support during those first few hours away from home. If your child will be napping at school, make sure to include a nap mat or small blanket, and be sure it’s clearly labeled. It’s also important to send any required medical forms, allergy info, or emergency contact details in a marked folder, so the staff can access them quickly if needed. Depending on the weather, outerwear like a jacket, hat, or rain gear might also be necessary. As a rule of thumb, label absolutely everything!
Parents can make the first day even smoother by talking to their child in advance about what to expect at Children’s Learning Adventure. Use simple, positive language to describe the fun activities, friendly teachers, and new friends they’ll meet. Choose a child-sized backpack that fits comfortably and isn’t too heavy. And again, labeling every item is key coats, bottles, blankets, and even shoes can easily be mixed up if not clearly marked.
